In Conclusion

Caroline hasn't been blogging lately because Caroline's body decided to let her get tonsillitis. Anyway-

I've been home from school for two weeks and vegan-free for three- I can say that I have fully transitioned back to eating dairy and meat. It was an easier process than I thought it was going to be. I was vegetarian for a week until I tried chicken and then had red meat a few days later. If it seems fast, please remember that I was only fully vegan for roughly 4 months.

I can still say I physically feel better eating plant-based foods than eating animal products. I spent the entire long weekend in Austin, Texas eating burgers, pizza, and donut-french toast, and after every meal I felt heavy and burp-y. Of course, this is always what It's going to feel like when you binge on foods that you shouldn't be eating 24/7. I'm currently sick and on antibiotics, and I've found that I prefer smoothies and my rice pilaf with vegan butter to comfort food. I like knowing that what I'm putting in my body is going to help it.

You're not going to get long term results by going on crash diets or cleanses. I have, however, seen (somewhat) long term and short term results come about through gradual lifestyle changes and choosing the healthier option one decision at a time.

I decided to become a vegan to get perspective and to see if it was a legitimate lifestyle for all people. I've come to the conclusion that it's as possible as you make it- it's up to you to educate yourself and put in the effort, but if you want my honest opinion, it was all worth it.

I feel as though I've said everything that I've wanted to say, so this will be my last post for The Vegan Project. I'm proud of myself not for being a vegan for four measly months, but for giving a damn about my health and educating myself on the animal industry, the media, and other health issues. I recommend you all do the same. Stay tuned for more posts on my free-write page (Et Cetera), and my studies in Austria this summer and I live my full-self as Gretel Von Trapp.

Thanks to all who listened, commented, and shared- I appreciate every little thing you've said about my writing, blog posts, or just general decision to make this a thing. Thanks for letting me do a thing.
