Got Milk? (I Do)
(My first update post-veganism)
On Thursday, after my final class of the day, I took the T up to the North End and got myself a cannoli from Mike's Pastry because I'm a tourist.
It tasted incredibly creamy and whipped, but I didn't vomit on the spot, so that's good. It was a weird feeling, though. It felt very heavy in my throat and in my stomach, which is a feeling I'm not used to, or at least a feeling I haven't felt in a while.
Here are some things I've eaten in the past few days:
-Cannoli
-Chocolate chip cookie
-Vanilla ice cream
-Grilled Cheese
-Dominos Cheesy Bread and Chocolate Lava Cakes (I know, I'm trash)
Here are a few things I've noticed within the past few days:
-I haven't thrown up or felt like I was going to, but on the few occasions I've eaten dairy, my stomach has felt heavy (this is because I'm lacking in probiotics, which help digest lactose, so right now I've got a ton of lactose sitting in the bottom of my stomach- cool!)
-It's weird how convenient it is to find food to eat
-Eating cheese and dairy again doesn't feel like I ever left. I didn't lose my mind when I ate cheese for the first time in months... I was just like, "Okay, this is cheese, I've had this before."
-I ordered Dominos the other night with some friends and I felt gross. I don't remember feeling such gross-ness when I was vegan, but maybe that's just Dominos for you.
-I thought I would feel extremely weird emotionally- but life goes on- sometimes it's just food, folks.
It's only been a few days, so I can really only notice the immediate side-effects. Until the next update...
